What tech products or categories are you most passionate about?
I'm most passionate about PCs and laptops, especially anything I can tinker with to make it run cooler, faster or better suit my needs. I also love how PCs are still massively relevant and not just for gaming. They're still essential tools for content creators and will be at the forefront of AI too.
What was your first phone?
Now I feel old. I remember it was big, heavy and it took me three hours to send a text message. On the plus side it's battery lasted all week, although the only other feature it had was the ability to make calls. I think it might have even pre-dated the Nokia classics like the 3210. Like I said, I feel old, but the instant I could get a touch screen I did and even predicted the smartphone in an online blog - a device that could take photos, play music and videos and send emails. I remember one comment said it would never catch on as people prefer using a dedicated camera and MP3 player. I bet they have an iPhone now.
When did your interest in technology begin?
My dad brought a very early PC home from work once when I was 8 so I've been a techie for over 30 years. In fact I'm not even sure you could call it a PC. It had green text on the screen and didn't even have Windows. But I was amazed at how I could write things and save it to its memory, turn it off and for the text to be there again. This and the early consoles and handheld electronic games had me hooked, but despite that I did still spend most of my time outside on my bike.
